There's a chance of flooding on the lake.  The spear house will sit on the bank for a few days.  

Quiet on the Lake.
Snow fall picking up.
Train whistle breaking the silence.
And a few sunnys to clean.  

DUD Decoy

Well Folks Get ready for a few DUD decoys, "Dang Ugly Decoy"  I can't seem to convince myself to use a decoy that's worth over Twenty bucks, and even at that price I'd be pushing my limits !

There might be a little satire mixed in with the creativity that will go into making of these DUDS so don't be offended if a few remind you of decoys you may have seen before. All are in good fun and strictly for the darkhouse !

Good day to open up the season angling and spearing.  

The pike is 28 1/2 inches 

and five pounds.  

I made the ugliest northern decoy I could to keep from selling it on Ebay.

  

Winter's here.

Four inches of good ice today, but snow in the forecast, so the lake will probably flood.  I'll leave the dark house on shore for a few more days.  Nov 24th

Totem # 75 - Totem with Northerns:

It's been about a year since I had

 a traditional 10 " numbered totem on the work bench.  

This one was promised to a collector who requested number 75 specifically.  He  had to wait a few years before I felt inspired

 to get to  it.

New Jay McEvers # 74 Totem Fish Decoy

The Only Totems I've numbered over the years are the 10 inch original shaped Totems. After 20 years I'm now up to number 74. It's been over a year since the last one came off the bench, so as you might imagine, I'm slowing down pretty serious Folks ! I've been in a Montana mood the last month or so with a couple one of a kind Totem Specials sold-" See Below". Billy the kid makes an appearance on this one. Looks like someones got the drop on him ! Latest of the new series Totem Decoys  "Wild Montana" The new series will be one of a kind Totems, a few under the same theme name. They will no longer be offered on Ebay.  This 7-1/2 inch totem has glass eyes, copper fins and all designs are burn outlined and  mirrored from side to side. Also it's a first for a McEvers Totem with  a copper colored background and  a copper bar line tie. Totally hand brush painted. It also has a wood plug covering the lead and the title burned onto the plug. These Totems are in the finest collections from coast to coast and only a few are created each year.
